CHEZ  ONCHAN

Onchan Soulinthone was born in the Khmu Village of Phatong Lom  in 1993. Onchan attended the local  primary school, Thong Khung. At 12 years old, he began secondary school which was a 2 hour walk from his village (each way!). After graduating secondary school at 15, Onchan entered high school. The school was not in walking distance from his home and he lived in a dormitory with classmates. In 2012, at 19 years old, Onchan was the first person in his extended family to ever graduate high school. Onchan continues to study. He is fluent in English and is studying French. He is currently attending the Northern Finance College in Luang Prabang while working full time. Onchan works night shifts in a hotel, translates on community projects,  and goes to school during the day. He studies French on the weekends.

Onchan wishes that all children will have the opportunity to continue their education!!
