We have never met children so enthusiastic about learning. Throughout the weekend, children approached us eager to learn more. It is heartbreaking to know that many of these children will not complete grade 3. The cost of uniforms and school supplies alone (although very small from our perspective) is often prohibitive for parents. Children are often needed as workers in the field. Once working in the fields, these children have little to no hope of knowing any other life.

On the positive side, Phatong Lom Village is a tight, loving community.  We simply fell in love with this village and their communal culture. Meals were served in communal bowls, the community all bathed in the same stream, and the children of the community ran freely from home to home. This beautiful experience was not a paid for tourist attraction. We are grateful to have shared time with the fun, bright children of Phatong Lom Village. We were told that what was really needed was basic school supplies,The biggest surprise was how excited and grateful the students were with these gifts. What beautiful children!

Luang Prabang is a UNESCO World Heritage site, so although Laos has been closed to tourists until the last decade, Luang Prabang is fast becoming popular on the backpacker trail.

For all of its beauty, Laos is one of the poorest countries in the world. Decades of conflict have earned Laos the title of the most bombed country in the world. However, it is a population with strong Buddhist beliefs and despite its turbulent history, all who have visited Laos will agree that the people are the warmest most welcoming you will meet anywhere in the world.

Phatonglorm village is the part of Luangprabang province,It is  a rural Khmu Village in Laos it is on the way to Sayabury,This program involves you in the every life of small community,It is fun, flexible, educational and cross culture experience.

We offer the best oppotunity to get this close -to see, touch, feel and understand the way of life of the Khmu people.
